Tire and Wheel Size for Riot?

So I read through most of the posts in the wheel and tire section but still have questions. I need to get new tires and wheels for the Riot I recently purchased. I see the Pitbull Rockers are highly recommended. What is a good size F/R tire for a virtually stock Riot? If I go to 26" or even 27" will it kill low end acceleration and climbing? Seems like it would have a pretty substantial effect. I would like to go bigger tires if possible as the 25" look too small on these rigs. Also are beadlock wheels necessary and worth the cost? We do mostly desert riding and there are lots of sharp rocks, roots and other items on our trails. What size wheel and offset do I need?

I appreciate any input!

Re: Tire and Wheel Size for Riot?

Adam, The stock tire size for the rear was 26x10x12 on the Riot and the Revolt. The front tires for a Revolt were 23x8x12. Way too short. The fronts for a Riot were 26x9x12 I believe. If your car has 25" somebody has changed them. The rear stock wheels are 12x7.5 with 3" to the back side and the fronts are 12x6 with 4" to the back side. You can't run anymore rear offset on the front or rear than the stock wheels have. After market wheels are plentiful for Polaris and are the same bolt pattern as Redline (4 on 156). If you buy wheels with more rear offset you can run wheel spacers to move the wheel back out to stock rear offset. I run 12x8 rear wheels with 5" rear spacing with a 2" spacer to get the wheel back to stock location. I run 12x6 front wheel with 3" rear spacing with no spacer so my front track is the same as the rear track width. If I ran in the dirt and rocks I would have bead lock wheels. You could go with 14" wheels also that would be more marketable if you were to sell them in the future for the XP guys. I think the 27" tire would work fine and give more ground clearance also. I'm not a dirt guy so what brand tire works best I don't know.

Re: Tire and Wheel Size for Riot?

Thanks Pilot! That's the exact info I was looking for. My car has 25x10x12 rear and 25x8x12 front. I'm glad I asked as obviously they have been changed.
I wonder if a 27" or 27.5" diameter tire would be OK and not cause too much low end loss?

I would use the 27". The new YXZ and the XP have the 27" and there are great buys on e-bay for the 14" wheel tire packages for mud tires/beadlock wheels plus lugs with free shipping and mounted. You would have to use wheel spacers on the rear but they are cheap also. The XP 1000 uses a metric lug so you would have to make sure the lug nut is a 3/8"X24 like the RZR 800 and XP 900 use or use the stock Redline lug nuts. I would go with 8" wide for rear and 6" or 7" wide front. The gear ratio change from the 25" tire you have now will be bigger than if you had the stock 26" tire now but I don't think it would affect the performance much. The belt and clutches don't know what size tire you have.

Thanks Pilot and Funnyman. I'll watch EBay and Craig's for a good deal.

Funnyman what size are you running on your Riot?
