bigger tires

I am considering going to a 28 of preferably a 29" rear paddle. Have any of the turbo guys tried a larger rear tire? I am looking to pick up topend and it seems i have enough on low end to do it. Hate to be the guinee pig again. But man did i start a craze last time i was.

The Oregon guys are all running Sandblaster 26's and the Sandblaster 26 pros. Mark Queen has a larger casing with 20 paddles custom made by Scat Trac that Major Mayhem checked out but the price was $700.00 each. I'm not sure how tall they are but they are bigger than 26".

Re: bigger tires

20 paddles way too much i would think for me. I am not 185hp. Yet anyway. I was told Mark took stu carcasses and had scat paddles put on. I will not spend 700.00 on a tire for sure. And i think scattrac is having a hard time finding larger carcasses. I will stay with 14 paddles. I am running 12 now. But will go to the ripped paddle. I have been rolling the extreme paddles over due to the terrain i ride in.

Re: bigger tires

Sandracer, you should try out a set of Sandblaster 26's. Maybe Ronny or Jet will let you try their tires at LS. Major Mayhem thought the price on the 20 paddle's was way out of line too so he went for a new set of the Sandblaster pro's. They are 1" wider. The thing that works good on these tires is the casing is very light and only 2 ply to start with. Most of the Scat Trac paddles are mud tire casings that are buffed down and are usually at least 4 ply to start with. They don't grow as tall as the Sandblaster's because of the stiffer side walls. I sure like mine and they only weigh 14 lbs comp cut. And less weight is better performance, at least in my opinion!

Re: bigger tires

Todd, I just bought another set of STU 26's with #2 paddle, but the Pro as well. 16 paddles and not comp cut due to lil Saharas terrain. These are on new DWT rims there two inches wider as well. Takes a wheel spacer to fit and clear the trailing arms. I made that decision after talking to Mark who said 26 blasters were the better tire. He prefers that one over the Skats as well.

Re: bigger tires

So you may wake up one morning and your ride will be on jack stands so I can try them out.Can you bring the set that does not need the spacers for me to try out?

Re: bigger tires

I'll have both sets with me. One on the RZR and one on the Revolt. You bring the jack!

Probably the best way to do it is look at the options that you could take so that you will have an idea of what is going to likely be your choice. Hope that would suffice for you already.
