Bighorn 2.0s

Does anyone know the highest psi you can run in these tires as in during a race? I know the max for seating the bead is 35.

Re: Bighorn 2.0s

I would start at 6-7psi.
Test & see how it's hooking up.
Go as high as it will work or as high as conditions will limit you to.
I would guess no higher than 10-12 for rough stuff.
My bet, you would be happy with 7 psi.
But, I am just guessing here.

Re: Bighorn 2.0s

I'm currently running 12 but the tires compress way too much on a jump.

Re: Bighorn 2.0s

How big of a jump?
Tires, especially these, do compress quite a bit.
It's because how there made.
Remember, it's an utv tire.
It's not an off-road, steel belted, Kevlar wrapped, 6x6 ply race tire rated at 5600 lbs. LOL
These tires are a part of your suspension.
Are you bottoming out the suspension as well? or at least using up most of the travel.
If not, try a softer set up.
If yes, go to 15 and see how it works.
You might just be at the limit for both the machine & tires.
If the wheels are not getting hit, you should fine.
BTW.
There is always the Pit Bull tires rated at 8 ply.
From what I hear, they are way... better than the Bighorns.
You can also hit'em a lot harder.
If you think that might be a way to go,
Give Mike a call at RRP, he's working on being a distributor for Pit Bull.
I'm getting a set of Rockers!

Re: Bighorn 2.0s

I've run them at 17-20 Psi desert racing. Reason is, too much wall flex from lower Psi tears out sidewalls hitting rocks.

Re: Bighorn 2.0s

Thanks Ron, that should make them brake loose in the corners even better!
I have Pittbull Rockers on the front for traction in turns, but I need to be able to slide the rear and the Bigs make that happen.

Re: Bighorn 2.0s

25.5x8 on 12" beadlocks. I'm really happy with the performance of these tires. I don't have them on the back because of the tight trails I run on. I use the Bigs for the drift to make some of the turns easier.
Crazy old man has a set of growlers on his Rage buggy both front and rear. They look like tillers in the soft dirt they get so much traction. He has limited slip.
