HD steering box
I retired my stock steering box for a heavy duty one from T4BBs (Kevin). It doesn't have the manufacturer's name on it so I don't know who makes it. Kevin uses this box for the large rails he builds (2500 lbs)
The box looks exactly like the stock box only beefier. It is a little longer but fits just fine.I pulled the box apart, and every thing fits like a glove. The up and down slop is controlled by 4 ball bearings that are spring loaded and run in grooves in the top plate. I believe Bearfoot mentioned that he was going to put a UHMW shim under the top plate to try and do the same thing. I think that would be a good idea to try and make the stock box a little tighter.
I haven't had any time to ride since I put it on but there was a big difference in the way it steered in my parking lot. Almost like adding a steering quickner. I'll post more info after the hurricanes and tropical storms move through.

Quick note.
When I took the old box off, the holes in the plate were oblong. The bolts were on there pretty tight but must of had a bit of play. Check the mounting bolts! Also one of the half inch bolts was bent and the small plate with two holes connecting the half inch bolts was stretched.

The key to these steering boxes, is GREASE, GREASE, GREASE !!! Thay are not sealed and the sand and grit goes right in the front. A rubber boot, over the entire box would really make them last.
