spindle bore repair

For anyone who has wollowed (?) out the bores on the spindle here is a repair using bearing races. My spindles were bare aluminum and the lower a-arm did not fair well last year. I did all 3 bores on each one. For anyone that does not want mess with doing it yourself you can contact Mike at RedRock for this repair.

Re: spindle bore repair

Nice work indeed.

How did your spindles get wallowed out in the first place? loose hardware?

Re: spindle bore repair

It is nice work. Wish I could take credit. Loose hardware was the culprit. By the time I saw it and retorqued it, it was bad enough it would not stay tight no matter how much lock tight I used. Mine had coarse threads on the ball joint which does not help when you are trying to hold torque. I went with 5/8"-18 on the new ones.

Re: spindle bore repair

The nuts on the Rod Ends can come loose. I would tighten them and tighten them, but they would work them selves loose.
The fix was to use grade 8 nuts and washers, with Red locktite. Torqued to 120 ft/lbs
FK Rod Ends are grade 8.

Re: spindle bore repair

We all put grade 8 washers on all the front suspension and the rear axle hubs when we got our cars before we took them to the dunes the first time. All the washers had mushroomed and the knuts were all loose. We haven't had any problems since (3 years ago).
