Short course racing near Pittsburgh 5/14/11
 

My hand controlled Revolt project is nearly completed and going racing soon.
This is how its done back east with the Pilot/odyssey guys.
The Revolt is in the pilot/odyssey class.
Hey guys, talked with Gary at Rolling W Ranch and he says he expects 4-5 pilots/oddy's for each race this year. Looks like a fun fast track. Heres the website: http://www.noora.freewebtools.com/"
Gary said it is a rolling side by side nascar type start. He also said the best combined finishes of the 2 motos determines the winner and the second race is in the opposite direction with inverted starting positions. Sounds and looks like fun. Who is going?
May 14th is first race and I plan on being there as it is only 2.5 hours from home.

Any of you guys east of the Mississippi want to race this? Probably the wider the better for this type of racing. My revolt is now 57 wide in rear and 54 in front. Should only be about 5 hours from Jersey and closer for you Ohio guys.

I plan on being there if all goes well. I've driven to Durhamtown in GA to race so PA is a day trip for me. The course looks really cool. Fast and fun. I have two buggys that I could bring to try out. A 2007 Revolt and a 2007 Rage R130.

Gary at Rolling W Ranch told me the pilot guys pick the length at the drivers meeting. Usually 10-12 laps and it looks like to be about a 1/2 mile track. Looks like fun.

Thats a long way to go to ride 10-12 miles. Can you drive the track after the races are over?

That's 10-12 miles twice!!!. (Edit: sorry bad math SC you are correct. With the price of gas most anyplace is a long drive. My regular place is DCNR trails in Marienville, PA and it is only 44 miles away and will use about 30 bucks of diesel.)

I did ask Gary about coming down for some practice laps in April and he said pick a day and call him and he would make it happen.

I think I'm ready to race this thing. Got first real ride today. 35 miles and 5 gallons of gas later. This thing sounds like nothing else in the woods. Runs great and handles well. Pushed it hard enough, in the corners, to raise the inside front wheel quite a few times. I think the limiting straps on the shocks really help to eliminate excessive lean and wallowing in the corners. Handles better than the RZR-S did. Was expecting more push in the corners; from what I've read, especially with less weight on the front.
I think the front bajacross' are doing their job. The 26x12x12 rear bighorns really grip well also. The weight transfer is so good when on the throttle that it really plants the rear. Not quite brave enough to steer with the rear yet. The RZR-S didn't weight transfer much so was easier to slide and steer with rear tires. Probably will slide predictably on the hardpack short course cannot wait.

"Not exactly sure on speed since I don't have a speedo on my buggy, but I would have to say pushing 55 mph on the main straight and maybe averaging 35-40 mph for a lap because of the turns. I think the Redline will be a good competitor power wise, but we'll have to see how it handles the corners."


Just don't want to finish last or roll. Sounds like it will be fun and competitive.

I just got back from Durhamtown and the Rage took a real beating. I ordered a new left rear lower A arm and shock. The factory in England says they should be able to get me the spares before the race on the 14th. I'm keeping my fingers crossed as I really hoped to be there. I let SC Revolt borrow the engine from my Revolt so that's down until he gets his engine rebuilt. Looking forward to racing with some superlites........can't wait!
