Apex riot videos

As I've posted before I bought a riot with a 150hp Yamaha apex engine in it. It had a few clutching problems and a few electrical problems, but after some work and a few months she finally lives! Unfortunately we forgot a few pieces to the new Go pro hero3 so the only video we managed on it was from the front bumper. It's a cool shot but the squeaking from the suspension over the motor is pretty damn annoying. But next trip should have some better video. Overall im very happy with the way it performs, its a whole lot of fun. I need to adjust the coilovers quite a bit but I was to busy having fun with it that I just kept driving. Here are a few videos from its first trip to Winchester bay, need some video editing software too

A few clips from the iPhone

A fun 9 minute run through Winchester bay

Just a short clip from down banshee hill

Short clip climbing banshee hill to a good view

Starting clip from the parking lot

Hope you enjoy

Re: Apex riot videos

If your Riot suspension is squeaking it's probably the teflon bushings in the rear swingarms. We had a tolerance issue with those. The inner steel bushing fit too tight inside the teflon bushing and when the bolt was tightned they would squeak. It also caused the rear swingarm bolts to work themselves loose. I can't remember at what serial # it was corrected.

Re: Apex riot videos

Only squeaking is from the front arms, I'm going to go through it and double check that all though

Re: Apex riot videos

Thanks four by, it's so close to pulling the front end on the flats. I actually have stu 16 paddles comp cut on it. I'm pretty sure once I dial in the suspension it will pull the nose, it drops about 8 inches in the rear when I gun it now. Also I have some adjustable weights for the clutch on order, going to drop the top rpm to 10,300. Best hp and torque numbers, so hopefully then it will move even better.

Re: Apex riot videos

nice!
I have a turbo Apex RZR and ride at Winchester.
13psi of boost on pump gas = about 230hp.

See you on the sand!

Re: Apex riot videos

Hot damn that's a whole lotta power, for now I'm happy with the 150 but maybe down the road a turbo would be great. Do you have any videos by chance, I've been dying to run into a fixed up 900 and see how the suspension handles it. Bet that's a real fun ride.
I'm actually heading down to Winchester bay on Friday for a 3 day weekend. I'm down once a month from Seattle every month, hope to see you out there. Going to dunefest in August by chance? This will be my first year going with a couple buddies

Re: Apex riot videos

Very nice! Man I'm jealous of your speedo. The originally builder didn't manage to get the speedometer hooked up properly, so I'm going to pick up a GPS speedo and put it in place of the stock redline one
