Re: 1st revolt xl on elkas

What is the Model # of the rear shocks. I blew out the Fox's after 1 year. They can be rebuilt for $50 but why when they will just blow out again. Might as well buy something better now.

Re: 1st revolt xl on elkas

You send the weight and info on your rear end and King figures out the rest. If they have done one before, they will have the info on file. I don't know if they have done a stock Redline yet and I don't think my shock parameters would apply. Just Kidding.

Also, I don't seem to have any trycycling when I turn. Just kidding again But, I really don't.

See ya and thanks for the info

Thanks Rick,
How did you determine what spring to use?

Re: 1st revolt xl on elkas

I got the King direct from King. As for the Elka's, I have never been told that they were anything short of awsome but, I have never had a set. I have also not seen them on anything bigger than a Rhino. We have all kinds of cars, from Rhino's to full sized off road cars and we run Kings on everything. If you look at any type of off road car, there are only a handfull of brands that run and Elka is not one. I know they rock for the ATV world but, I don't know how they are with something with some weight. I know that our King set up on our Rhino out performs the Elka's on my buddy's RZR. But, we have a much better long travel kit than he does.

I think you could get 2" coil overs with resiviors for under 500.00 each. I think that is less than Elka and you can buy them direct. They build them to your exact weight and aplication so, they take 7-10 days. They come in standard blue but, you can get them in custom colors (like the Rhino) for 100.00 per shock. Go to King Off-Road Racing Shocks : High Performance Suspension to check them out. They are the Pre-runner series.

See ya

Do you think the Kings would out perform the Elkas?
Where did you get the Kings from?

Re: 1st revolt xl on elkas

I run Kings on my car. They work great. On the front I have King 2" air shocks. They work much better than the Fox'x. I also run a 2.5" 2 tube bypass that makes the car ride like its on a cloud. In the rear I have 2.5" coil overs and 2.5" 3 tube bypasses. We have not run them with the new suspension but, they worked great with the old set up. The entire 8 shock package was about 4,500.00. See ya latter.

Not at this time. I have heard it is on their "To Do" list.

Red Rock Rails,
Dose the factory offer a different A arm?

Re: 1st revolt xl on elkas

On a Revolt or XL the rears are a direct bolt in with just a little trimming of the fenders. In the front, you will need to have new upper A-arms made in order to clear the springs. At the same time you should swap the upper heim to be a uni-ball design. Damon should post a picture of either his Revolt race rig or the XL (both have Elkas, of course! ). It's actually a simple build if you use the stock upper to create a jig. I haven't done it yet, but Zack at ZMR Racing (here in Phoenix) has done all of Damon's rigs. So he has the jigs and knows how much bend to put in the arms without being too much.
