Re: Pismo Trip with the Riot

The Riot is a lot of fun, especially to jump. Next time I will have a camera on my wife's quad to get a side shot of the Riot jumping. As for that speedometer, notice the GPS? Spoke to Mike at Red Rock Rails and a fix is in the works for the speedometer. He sure knows the mechanics of these machines.

Thanks for sharing! Looks like a lot of fun. My wife and I drove on the beach from one end to the other in a rental car one year with no problems. I see your speedometer works as well as mine (LOL) Your Riot looks like it jumps really well. I would have like to seen a side shot of it landing.

Thanks again!

Hi, the camera is the GoPro HD Hero. Awesome little thing packs a punch. But next time I need to move it a little further away from the motor. Certain RPMs distorts the picture a little.

As for the helmet thing, and if you feel like reading, please see attachment.
Im gonna have to check out that gopro HD sometime..
Hi Jose,

Thanks for the comments and your opinion. They are greatly appreciated. It's always good to hear more than one side of a story or issue. It helps in the decision process for many people. As I'm writing this, I see you edited your thread. If it's OK with everyone else, please repost it. I think it's important for everyone to know the consequences of doing certain things like riding off road and how important it is to take the proper precautions. Your experience proves that.

I'm sorry you had such a traumatic experience. I understand. There is not a day that goes by that I'm not in pain for one reason or another (a story for another time and place) or think about the friends that I've lost. But for me, it's a constant reminder to live life to the fullest...while I still can.

Brad...

Brad,

Thanks for giving us a glimpse of what Pismo looks like. I was raised in So Cal before moving to Utah, but had never been up to Pismo. Now, I have a general idea of what it looks like. It looks like riding along the hard pack would be a blast. Does it turn into quite a parade on the hard pack at times?

Thanks again for sharing,

Mike
Hi Mike,

The hard pack has a speed limit of 15mph and for good reason. Traffic needs to be controlled especially when there's an emergency and the rangers need to get by fast. And the hard pack isn't always so hard. We were there in June. Hit the beach Friday and it was like quicksand. What looked like hardpack, was soft and mushy. Even the dunes were soft, everybody was getting stuck. I got stuck with my truck as the next video will show. But get out there the next day, Saturday, and it was PERFECT. Great weather and great riding. But that's Pismo. One day it's the worst as worst can get, the next day, heaven. Gotta love Pismo.

Hi Guys,

Spent a couple days at Pismo with the Riot. What a NICE machine for the sand. Handled nice, plenty of power and with the paddles on, it can go just about anywhere.
