I agree with your thought process, the engine compartment would almost always be hotter than the ambient air temp. I would have to say it is more of preference. Everyone would give you reasons why their way to set it up is better than the other .

For what it is worth. Two things to consider are.....1) The radiator fan pulls from the engine compartment and 2) the engineering or designed air flow of the Revolts is air flowing in at the front of the car (behind the bumper), around the seat and to the engine compartment.

I pull from the engine compartment and push air out on my set up.
