Re: oil cooler fan

I would recommend this better "tie it into the radiator fan wiring so that it turns on/off with it." Just make sure to install a independent power source and relay on it.

For what it is worth. Two things to consider are.....1) The radiator fan pulls from the engine compartment and 2) the engineering or designed air flow of the Revolts is air flowing in at the front of the car (behind the bumper), around the seat and to the engine compartment.

I pull from the engine compartment and push air out on my set up.

Hope this helps. Frank
Dido to Frank. I mount the oil cooler fan on the outside of the cooler and pull the air to the outside to get rid of more heat from the engine compartment. You can buy a relay kit on e-bay for about $25 that has a sending unit included. Mine comes on at 170 deg. The sending unit went bad on me so have a toggle switch on it until I replace the sending unit.

Thanks Frank,
Interesting considerations to be sure. I did not factor in airflow I was only thinking from a static state. I do believe I will follow your lead on this one. No reason to reinvent the wheel. I appreciate the feedback.

Re: oil cooler fan

Hi Frank,
Thanks for the welcome. Looking forward to meeting the locals. Quick Question.
I received my fan today and was debating the flow of air. My first thought was to pull from the engine side and exhaust to the outside of the vehicle but after thinking it over, the oil cooler is going to generate a lot less heat than the engine so wouldn't I want to pull cool air from the outside and vent to the engine compartment? The air would be heated but I feel like it would still be cooler than air from the engine . I think I will try both ways when I hit Winchester and temp it. Thoughts? Anyone else already tried this?
Guess it wasn't that quick after all.
Thanks

Re: oil cooler fan

Hey Mike,

Welcome to the club. FYI...there are a lot of Redline owners in your area. I wired it directly into my Intercooler fan. the previous owner had dedicate a wire and switch for it with an in line fuse so I used it. figuring if I popped the fuse, I would only loose my intercooler and oil fan.

Re: oil cooler fan

Hey Frank,
Did you wire a relay into the fan or just hook it up directly to the Fan leads?
Thanks,

Re: oil cooler fan

I used a 7" fan that I got from www.siliconeintakes.com. Cost was around $25, best price I found at the time.

What size fan did you use?

Re: oil cooler fan

That would be a good idea to hook the trigger switch to the rad fan. You may need a relay for this.
