I am jealous as HELL about your riding spots!!! I love that part of the country. Miles and miles of trails, all with amazing views. I would love to ride and camp with my rig. Too hot right now.

Do you normally ride on your own? OK..........enough thread crashing.
No problem. I do ride alone most of the time. There were quite a few people out that day. If I really want to be alone, I'll head out into Utah's western desert. I may not see anyone all day. I'm thinking of getting a "Spot" GPS.
See new thread.

The Test Drive.
I work quit well. I could feel the the front end was firmly planted in the corners. It was also nice to get out of the Heat. Check out the snow, In July?
The snow is at 9,210 feet, (2,807.2 meters)
Here's a few photos from the ride.

Get in the Groove, tire grooving.

Getting in the Groove .... of Grooving tires.
If you've been thinking about grooving your tires, wait no longer.
Here's how I did it.
I've been wanting to add a little more bite to the front tires. I've done this in the past to Mountain bike tires, but nothing this big. Racers, check your rule books to see if this is legal for your track.

Prep.
Mark your tire with chalk before you even plug in the Iron. Decide how many grooves you need and where and mark them on the tread. Its a lot easier to change chalk lines, than to have a groove in the wrong place.

Safety.
Gloves, safety glasses and a fan. These things are a must. The iron is hot! and the blades are very sharp.
Use the fan to keep the fumes out of your face. You guessed it, it stinks, bad. Do the job out side.

Its all in the wrist.
After the groover heats up, lay the tip flat on the tire tread. let the gun do the work. Steady pressure will do the job.
Just as the knife is about to come out the other side, back off on the pressure. Rolling the groover side to side, will help the knife to come through. If you try to muscle it through, the groover will slam into the next tread block and cut it.
I did this and took a few chunks out ,were I didn't want to.

Check your work.
You'd be surprised how easy it to miss a cut. Before you unplug the groover, check to see if all your chalk lines are cut.

I took out 6.3 oz of rubber from both tires.

Tomorrow is the big test and I'll let you know how it goes.
