Re: Bug Gun Exhaust

At 8500 he is gaining wheel speed and that is what he is looking for, more mph. There is no hp gain at that rpm just mph. That is if he is NOT getting the rpm from belt slippage. The joy of clutch tuning!!!!
Time for the infra-red temp gun.
Myself personally, have my rpms peak at about 8100. If I ever find someone to pull me in a drag race I will tune it out more. Holeshot is the key IMO. That is where I get them all.LOL
4 pages of tuning in my log book to get where I am at. Tuned on the edge baby.

Re: Bug Gun Exhaust

8500 is twisting pretty good......I wonder if you would benifit from a little bit more clutch weight? What you are looking for is the gearing to change as fast as the motor can handle it.

Another thing you might check is something that happened to me my last time out this year............ my car starting cutting out a little bit at full throttle.....ran fine untill I was deep in the throttle. I adjusted every aspect of the programmer and it would not "tune out". So I went in to check things out and what I found was a loose plug at one of the coils. I pushed it in and drove the car to check it and it ran fine for a little bit but quickly started doing it again and so I used a pick and bent the prongs in the plug to make better contact and it ran great and didnt have any more problems. Long story short, a weak coil connection will produce a miss at full throttle that will not tune out LOL!

We got to run our first race Saturday. I`m running 8500 rpm down the track. Also ran without baffle and spark arrestor.

The big gun os almost brain rattling but turned right you can def feel the performance gains I repacked my silencer with fmf packing seems to quiet it down a bit and richened all the settings 1 click runs noticeably cooler but thats for my elevation and temps yours might be different

Re: Bug Gun Exhaust

Is that big gun exhaust real loud? And it sounds like you said there was no improvement in performance. Need to get some kind of a pipe for mine.
