Re: Belt problems

Here is the list of belt dimensions I was given last year when I was on my quest for a better belt. Maybe it will help in this thread.

Haven't tried it on the Redline, but on our drag sleds we wrapped the belt/clutch guards and belly pans with belting. You can get it from Wahl Bros. Racing (1-800-883-0294)( Wahl Bros. Racing ) in 6" or 8 1/2" wide. It is NHRA, ISR, and NSSR approved. It worked awesome on our full mod 270HP+ sleds. It may be an option for the stock guard.

Theres not much damage to see, it simply ripped 2 of the stock wing nuts out, 1 at the top & 1 at the bottom, enough to let the belt fly past the guards rim & take off the oil in line to the cooler. Apart from the tears in the 2 wing nut holes this guard is like new, it could be repaired or fitted back as is but whats the point, its not up to the task, it has just cost me an engine rebuild.

Mike at Redrock sandsports has an upgraded belt for sale. Has had no problems with new belts so far.

Dave dont get me wrong I live to work on & ride my revolt, it just hurts the bank balance. This Turbo upgrade has been an awsome project & I have learnt so much, I'm greatful for all your help & info. I just hope every1 takes your advise with fixing the belt guard before paying the ultimate price like Sandracer & myself.

I was hoping I could line the inside of the stock guard where the belt runs with steel or ally but clearance issues have knocked that idea on the head. I figure need to fabricate a complete new guard out of ally or stainless that is slightly larger than stock & modify the mounting brackets to suit.
Nothings ever easy !!!
