Thanks for thinking of me. I have a tow strap but it is getting a lot of use lately, so it is good you will have a back up for me.

The bigger the filter, the slower the air will pass through it. The dirt has plenty of time to get trapped and not all much pressure pushing it through.

Re: New 4" Inlet and Filter

Thanks for the info guys. The air fuel gauge is an AEM. I don't know about the functionality of the gauge yet but it looks great next to the tach and comes with black and silver interchangeable faces. It also has digital and analog readings. Bearfoot, thanks for the suggestion on the Outerwear, where did you get yours? I looked on their website and couldn't find anything to match my filter dimensions. I'll contact them and see if they have something to match. I kinda think that an engine only has the ability to use so much air. If the inlet is too small the power output potential is decreased as is the case with the stock inlet hose. I don't believe that you can make the inlet too big. You just need to add fuel to get the air fuel ratio correct. Sounds easy in theory. We'll see this weekend when I play with the fuel controller. I'll report back with results good or bad.
Here is the link for the AEM gauge.

What air fuel sensor setup did you purchase? I'm looking into purchasing one for my Riot. I have the big gun fuel controller, but have made no adjustments yet because I didnt know which way to go without an air fuel sensor to guide me.

Re: New 4" Inlet and Filter

That looks great.
The factory ECU settings, are lean. Add a large filter and intake, it could get to lean.
The Big Gun controller fixes that.

Get your self an Outerwear pr filter. They have no effect on performance, but keep the big stuff off your Uni.
Uni is the best out there, in washable filters, IMO.

Re: New 4" Inlet and Filter

keep us posted on the results....

one thing that I did notice when I did my mod is that when I had the huge K&N filter It felt as if it was getting to much air for some reason... I played around a bit with the programer and was able to run better... then I went with a medium size uni filter and played with the programer again and it felt way much better than with the huge k&n... I dont know if there is such thing as too much air, or filter too big, but it worked for me....

after playing with the programer for a while I dialed in to the best I could and did see improvements vs my old stock setup.... I also recently installed an airfuel sensor and when I get my car up and running again I should be able to tune it more precisely....

let us know how that set up works for you...
