Yeah I think for overall availability of parts and tunability, that the Team or Polaris clutches are the way to go. The Comet might just go into the spare parts bin for a backup.
Yah, thats what I'm thinking too.

Re: Primary clutch

Weight set came today. 50.5 gram base weight. It came with all 4 arms too. I put the weights only on (50.5grams) just to see if it took care of the rev limiter issue and it did. Just took a short run and jumped on it a couple times. So it is drivable now. I will wait for the boost valve, that extra 30 hp, to do anything else. I am hoping to end up right at minimum base weight after the valve and need to add weight. Thanks to all for the help with theory and where to guess to start. So far, so good.

Chad is working on the clutch set-up for my Revolt. I am just hoping the weight set I bought falls in his set-up gram window. If not he will supply the correct weight and I will sell mine. He will also be supplying the springs and helixs if needed in his kit. Being the first one, it will take some time to get full potential out of it. He will be tuning it through computer feed back. I think it is cool I will get to see all the info and have a good record of what it can do. Computer will be great for tuning.

Re: Primary clutch

All threads are standard direction. The problem with the Comet aftermarket is most UTV's run a TEAM of some version or another(private labeled). The Weber engine/Comet clutch just happens to be historically more of a snow mobile engine than a UTV so that's always the best place to look, snomo shops. I'd bet someone has rebuild parts.

Re: Primary clutch

Yes he should be aware, I told him 3 or 4 times so I was clear what I had. And yes he was aware Ron runs the Team clutch. I do not know if he has the other parts you asked about. I am thinking I should just return them and get the clutch Chad recommends. If I can't find the parts when they wear out what's the point. I have to believe it won't be long until someone comes out with after market parts. What's the average life for a clutch? And just for future reference, is the main center bolt on the primary reverse thread? I may have to change out springs.

And can go up tp 66grams with the set. $300.00 for the set if you are interested.
The Comet primary front shive just slides in if you undu the 8 small bolts on the front cover, no prying needed. Also are you sure you bought a four weight adjustable kit? Those gram weights you stated sound like a three weight set to me. I am sure rrawtry is running a three weight Team primary. The Comet on the redline's has four weights.

Re: Primary clutch

I have yet to find a rebuild kit for the comet 4-Pro. Bushings, Buttons, etc.

Dose Thunder Products have them?

Hey Sandracer, You do not have to remove the large bolt in the center of the clutch to change weights. First remove the belt, then remove the 8 small bolts around the cover. The outer shive will be pushed toward the back one. You can then remove the weights and replace them. Make shure you inspect the pivot bolts and replace if there is any wear on them. If the bushing in the weight wears out it will then damage the pivot.
Also inspect the buttons and rollers in the spider for wear. The only problem is that to the best of my knowledge there are no parts available to rebuild the spider..........,since Comet is out of business.
