Speedometer No Longer Working

My speedo quit working before my last race. I have probably 350 miles on my rig so far. Anyone know why? It lights up and shows the mileage/hours. But the needle never moves when I am running. Just sits at zero.

Checking the sensor location in the rear, it seems right. What is the spacing between the rotor and the sensor supposed to be? Anything else to check?

The gap between the sensor and the brake rotor should be .080 inch (+- .020 inch). You mention that your odometer still shows your mileage but is it still counting?

It lights up and shows mileage, but never increases in count. I will check the gap tonight.

Re: Speedometer No Longer Working

When you check the gap look real close at the face of it for damage. You might have had something get between it and your disc while you were racing.

The gap measured about 0.090". I measured another stock Revolt and it was about 0.070". Closer inspection of the face of the sensor, it would appear something has hit it and damaged it. I am going to replace the sensor and see if this solves the problem. More to come.........Thanks for the input thus far.

Haven't tried it yet. I have my rig all cut up while I am fabricating all of the items necessary to meet the BITD and SCORE rules for UTV racing! I will be a few more weeks before I can get it back together and running. I will give an update once I have it back together.

O.K. Jay, what's the verdict? Was it the sensor?
