Talking Race Riot Build- Best In the Desert

Okie Dokie Folks,

Well, a ways back Damon and Jay (four_by_nut) prepped a frame for a Riot desert racer. It was all gusseted up and had the door area barred. They did a fantastic job I might add. Long and short of it is that somehow I ended up with the frame and the build is on again!!

I added tabs for mounting a solid aluminum skid plate and painted it today. The first race is January 8th and 9th, the Parker 250 in Parker Arizona, so I better to get moving. I have new seats from Twisted Stitch, a Wilwood dual master cylinder with a bias bar, upgraded heims, Timken bearings, Crow 5 Point Harnesses and Optima Yellow Top battery. I'm reusing my old Fan powered oil cooler, Hiper Wheels and Elka 2 stage Elites (having them rebuilt by Elka and custom tuned for my car’s race weight).

I’m adding a Parker Pumper fresh air system for helmets, billet rear hubs, reinforced rear trailing arms, race radio/ helmet to helmet intercom, and full instrumentation (volt, fuel pressure, water temp, oil temp, oil pressure and standard RPM & Speedo). Also I’m in the early stages of implementing some performance upgrades that may benefit the whole Redline community. I'm the guinea pig and it ain't cheap, but if it works out, you'll be the next to know!! No peeps under the hood at the latter (performance upgrades) before we’re done and tested!! LOL

Mike at Red Rock is going to be my co-driver. We will be race testing various performance products in hopes of raising the bar for all of us in the Redline world!! Look for Mike in the future to bring you updates on the performance upgrades as we progress. Our goal is to race test various products for performance and dependability and make those products available to everyone…….

Below Pictures:
1. Torn down "Old Faithful" Riot.
2. Cab torn down and full of parts.
3. Newly painted race frame with aluminum skid plate.
4. "Old Faithful" ready for first MX race, April 2009.

Re: Race Riot Build- Best In the Desert

Moved the radiator, oil reservoir and steering box over today. Got the wiring harness in and the radiator hoses laid out. Going to keep the oil cooler in the back as I had it before. Waiting for sleeves ( Like a tractor has over it's hydraulic hoses ) to put over the coolant hoses under the floor pan before I install the floor pan. I'll post some photos before I put in the pan and start on the in cab wiring.

Going to work on some misc stuff tomorrow and then I fly out Friday morning to go over tech stuff at the Henderson Fabtech race this weekend in Nevada. Meeting Mike at Red Rock and introducing ourselves to the community out there.

We did find out that they are going to create a Pro-Unlimited UTV Class and that's where they want us running if we want to run for money. The Pro-Spec Class is arguing that we have a factory full rail chasis and that all the other teams run the stock Rhino, Teryx box frame built up from there and they didn't think we had a payload bed. That will have us running against bike engines and the like (no car engines). Our Teams goal is to prove that the Redline Riot is the most ready Side By Side available out of the box with the least amount of mods. We have no silver bullet, but it is what it is. Run what ya brung, as my Grandpa used to say!! More on the classification saga later.......

Re: Race Riot Build- Best In the Desert

Got BITD approval to run as a Pro-Spec this weekend in person at the "Henderson Fab-Tech". Great lookin bunch of UTV's ran this weekend!! Met the Jagged X RZR Team and helped pit in a very small way. Hung out with the crews a bit at tech inspection and introduced myself. It always helps to meet the crews, say Howdy and hang out to build report with your fellow competitors. Told 'em I was bringing my "A" game to Parker Arizona in January!!

Here's some photos of the uni-steer power steering unit and Wilwood dual master cylinder single pedal brake assembly. So onward and upward, the radio/intercom come in tomorrow and the cab electronics are coming in this week.....
