Riot Cage Modifications?

Anyone modify the roll cage on a Riot ? I'm trying to determine if there is a reasonable way to either reduce total height on a Riot or make a section of the cage easily removable without sacrificing strength and safety? With two Riots plus other toys I'm having a hard time finding a stacker trailer that will hold everything due to height. Even max height trailers are a challenge as my other car is 64". At 66" tall the Riots are the tallest items. A 3" height reduction could make the difference or I would go more if making the cages removable. Any suggestions?

I guess if push comes to shove I could always remove the tires to get them in a trailer but that seems like a PITA.

I think I would try letting most of the air out of the tires first before modifying the cage. My buddy Jtap did shorten the cage on his XL Revolt and it looked much better after it was finished. He didn't need more clearance, he didn't like the looks of the taller XL's. It is harder than it looks because the upright tubes are not straight up and down. They are on a angle so it isn't just a matter of cutting out 3 or 4 inches and welding it back together. The ends don't mach up. It would be easier to make the upper cage a bolt on piece like the Polaris XP's are. Good luck with what ever you have to do.

Yeah maybe just airing out the tires is easiest. I'll get my second Riot here later this week then do some detail measuring and go from there. Thanks!

Adam, Crown Mfg in Calif. has roll cage adapter bungs that weld in place to make your upper cage a bolt on assembly. They have several on e-bay for sale. I'm sure if you call them they could come up with the ones you would need for your tubing size.

Re: Riot Cage Modifications?

I modified the cage on the Riot I had but it was very labor intensive. It would have been easier to start from scratch LOL!

I had plenty of head room to take out 6 inches or so!

Cool cars for sure! My understanding is this car went to Texas somewhere (after I traded it off) but I have never been able to get a hold of the person who ended up with it. I would like to keep up with it and who knows.....maybe end up with it again some day LOL!
