advise needed on turbo installation

I decided to put a turbo in my riot. I found a FST motor with turbo and alternator. I think I have every thing figured out except for the ECU. Can anyone tell me what I need so it will run. I am going to install the redline cam and turn the head around this week and hopefully get the motor installed by next weekend. then I will pipe the intercooler and do the exhaust and gauges. I need it to run by the beginning of next month. (is this possible?) thanks for any advice
Does anyone have any pictures of a riot with a turbo installed?

There are plenty of pictures on this forum of turbo charged Riots. Are you using the FST throttle bodies or the Redline throttle bodies? You will have to use the alternator with the FST engine. You will have to fabricate the mount for it. What are you going to use to adjust the boost? The ECU is available from Weberpower. You will have to call Randy direct to get it ordered. He doesn't always have them in stock. It will be over $500.00. Do you have adjustable clutch weights? The stock tach will only read 1/3 the rpm with this Walbro ECU from Weberpower so you will need an aftermarket tach set on the 4 cylinder setting. The FST map sensor must be used also. The one in the intake runner not the one in the air filter housing. You will need a vac/boost gauge. A blow off valve is also nice to have to save the turbo bearing. The turbo will need to be re-indexed to clear the gearbox. All this is possible to do in a couple weeks if you know what you are doing. I can't stress enough about the if you know what you are doing part.

Pilot
thanks for the advice
I will be using the redline throttle bodies, I made a mount for the alternator and plan on ordering a manual boost control valve and the clutch weights.
I will look into the Map sensor
again thanks for the advise

You will also need the FST fuel injectors. To know if the system is running in a safe manner you must have a wide band air/fuel ratio gauge.

Contact mhallman on this site for manual boost controller. They offer a kit which has an adjuster you can mount in the cockpit and leave the controller itself extremely close to the turbo. I have one in my car and it is sweet. I run mine at 12 or 15lbs depending on who and where I am running.

I was using a Turbo smart controller before. It worked great.

Best out there? I don't know,,,,, my hbc is pretty tight Pilot!!!! smooth cockpit adjustable control. turn it up or down on the fly. Maybe save a half gallon on each run. But when I see one of those pesky RZR's I can easily turn it up while I am stalking it. I need to go riding!!!!

Re: advise needed on turbo installation

We mount the Turbosmart controller in the cockpit by our left thigh in the Revolts and between the seats in front of the shifter in the Riots. With a open cockpit it doesn't really matter where you put it as long as it is within reach while strapped in.
