You can jack up the rear of the Riot and rev it out in gear and watch how the clutches shift out. On my Riot, I found the inner sheave on the secondary was actually contacting the frame preventing full shift out. You can easily spot this by doing what I mentioned or look at the frame (the rear down tube closest the secondary) and look for marks from the secondary contacting it.
You can easily disassemble the secondary to inspect the rollers and clean it out to insure smooth operation.
