rpm`s

I have a 09 riot that I had out in the dunes last weekend & all I can get is 7k from it in any condition it is in the dunes. I have A39 weights in a comet clutch. my buddy has a revolt & he is getting 8k from his engine. Questions how do I get more rpm`s out of mine or is 8k too much? thks for any input henry

You should get 8k out of it. Its hard to say what is wrong. Does it have a Big Gun programmer on it? The 39 gram weights should be fine. Has the fuel filter been changed recently? Start checking wire connectors to make sure everything is plugged in all the way like those coils on top of the valve cover.

Re: rpm`s

the programmer makes the mixture too fat. Disconnect the programmer.

Klemdotter is right. Get rid of the Big Gun programmer and it will probably run better. It will only add fuel and make it too rich in most situations. The lighter weights will let the engine rev higher but you should take that programmer off first. The fuel filter needs to be between the tank and the pump. They are between the pump and the engine from Redline. If yours isn't between the tank and pump, move it. Just buy a metal fuel filter for 5/16" fuel line at your local auto parts store. It doesn't need to be anything special. We just get one for carb application since there isn't any big pressure between the tank and pump. Usually about 3 bucks or less.
