Re: need turbo kit

The Pilot has sold some turbo kits to a couple diffrent people, and they seem to be happy. The kits are about $5000.00 but there is a lot more then bolting a turbo on. You need to change the ECU, pistons, valves, AFR gauge, intercooler, hoses and brackets. Good luck. Sandking out

Re: need turbo kit

It is possible to put your own kit together if you are a capable "do it your selfer".

I did my own for my riot......there is a ton of good information on this sight as well as many people willing to help.

It is unbelievable how much the turbo wakes up these little motors!

Re: need turbo kit

Turbo, if they will let you still race your class. Stock weber turbo is sweet and dependable for 15lbs of boost and 130hp. If you are short coarse racing you better put your $$$ in a rpm box first. Or the thing will be sitting with a useless 130hp. Just my opinion.
I am on trans 3 just from duning and sand trails like a madman.
Mike at Redrock can do a turbo conversion also if you want it done by someone.

Re: need turbo kit

For steering, what I did is bought a steering "quickener" (1.5 to 1 ratio) and then installed it backwards for some extra mechanical advantage. This made my steering 2.25 turns lock to lock (from the stock 1.5 turns) and it helped a bunch. For comparison, a rzr is 2.5 turns lock to lock so it is still quick steering but with the effort reduced a bunch. You have to use a u-joint on each side of the gear box to eliminate all binding and it also helps to oil the lower ball joints as well before each ride.

Re: need turbo kit

The turbo kit I sell is $4900. This includes Autometer gauges tach, wide band air/fuel, water temp, oil press, boost/vac. Pistons, exhaust valves, head gasket, timing chain link, rod bolts, rod bearings. Intercooler, blow off valve, air cleaner/outerware, air intake plenum, turbo assembly, oil lines, boost tubing, turbo support brackets, clamps, ECU, map sensor, boost controller, muffler. Everything except the optional oil cooler fan and optional AEM piggyback controller. Shipping is not included. If you ship me your good running engine, I will install the pistons and valves from the kit for $400.00 labor. Any additional engine parts not in the kit would be extra. All the shipping would be paid by the buyer. The mounts for the intercooler would have to be fabricated by buyer. The exhaust system parts are shipped un-welded. This is due to the variation of the frames from Redline. Same for the intercooler mounts. What fits one car usually needs to be tweeked to fit another.
