Honest thoughts on the Riot

I just sold my RZR S and loved it.. I go to Glamis about 6 - 8 times a year and really enjoyed the RZR S and hoping Polaris adds a little more power in 2010. I have owned a 08 rhino with LT, 07 AC Prowler, and three long travel LS2 power sandrails. I saw the Riot at the SEMA show last year and really like what I saw. I am looking for some candid "likes and don't likes" with the Riot. The one thing that really scares me is no 4x4 which was handy around the trails. With a $17,500 price tag you can a ton of cool stuff for a new RZR S. How is the suspension, durability, workmanship, and you overall candid opinion of the Riot and would you buy it again?

Thank you much!

Re: Honest thoughts on the Riot

I have a RZR-S and a Riot, raced them both. The Popo has much better fit and finish, but is much smaller and less stable. I have nearly $28,000.00 in my RZR and its decent if not weak in the tranny and diff areas. The 4WD RZR beats me in the mud on the holeshot and is cool, but the Riot soars like a 767(not Air France). The suspension is much more plush and less jerky in the Riot. The Riot steers harder, but Electra Steer fixed that. I also have the Elka Elites on both cars. Bottom line, my $22,000.00 in my Riot is a helluva lot better bang for the buck than my $28,000.00 in my RZR-S. Plus the Popo warranty is worthless as Popo is crooks on warranty issues, and The Redline folks treat you like a family member!!

Re: Honest thoughts on the Riot

I have more miles on trails, than the dunes. I take mine into hills above my house.
Link ... Bountiful Utah - Google Maps
Its very rocky. So far, I haven't needed 4 wheel drive. I have even been in the snow. It stays around up there until late July.
The long travel works great. The factory Fox shocks work very good for recreation riding.
If your going to drive like a "Crazy Texan", you might like the Elka shocks better.
Unlike the standard RZR, you wont have to drop a bunch of $$$, to make it drivable.

The stock machine works very well.

Re: Honest thoughts on the Riot

I test drove one out in glamis and was very impressed with the suspension going through the whoops. It handles them similar tp a class 1. I think it could use a little more power though. And that front bumper definitely needs to go i think a prerunner front bumper with a skid plate would look a lot better. Overall i was very impressed with this utv.

Your right, a prerunner front bumper with a skid plate would look and work better.

Re: Honest thoughts on the Riot

Right on Bearfoot, Crazy Texan or not!! LOL It took me $14,000.00 to make the RZR what I wanted in add ons and it only took me $4,500.00 to get the Redline to my personnal taste. The bumper took a lil southern ingenuity(didn't think anyone down her could spell that, huh?), but I finally figured out how to use it properly and not as a plow!! Although I certainly dug a furrow or three in the table top jumps of 30 ft on hard pack.....

I drove my RZR last weekend and I got the feeling I was in the Flintstone mobile. My comparrison was I was I climbed oout of my Redline Mustang GT and onto my John Deere front loader. The inspiration to drive like a stunt man just evaporated!!!

******PLease Note******* Drivng like a crazy Texan is not condusive to ones health and safety, nor to the lifespan of the equipment being driven. Do so only at the risk of extreme personal anguish.

Thank You,
Uncle Bubba

Re: Honest thoughts on the Riot

I also think the riot would look better with a triangle brace on the roll cage and full sized doors.

Just my personal experience. I have never in all my major purchases been treated as well as Redline treated me. I WILL definately buy again.

It may also be that Mike at Red Rock Rails is just one helluva dealer as well. Glad I had mine drop shipped and didn't go to a huge mega dealer....
