Test Drove a Riot....Oh Yeah!

I currently own an '08 Rhino, but my local dealer also stocks Revolts and Riot's. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of test driving the Riot yesterday and now realize just how slow my Rhino actually is....lol.

Extremely impressed with the suspension and the power, but I am a bit concerned with the stiffness of the steering compared to my Rhino. My first thought was it had a stabilizer cranked down, but I did not see one. Does the steering loosen up a little after while?

Love the site and looking forward to more posts from all the current owners.

The rack and pinion gears wear in a little. They have a grease zerk on the bottom, that needs a shot of grease once in a wile.

Re: Test Drove a Riot....Oh Yeah!

The issue is the steering linkage angles are really steep from the steering wheel to the steering rack. You probably feel some smooth and then it seems to "stick" which you have to sort of force it through. right? And it gets tiring pretty quickly. That is the ujoints in the linkage near bind.

I solved this problem in my Revolt by lowering, slightly, the steering mounting point when I re-did my cage work. It turns like SILK now.

Others have solved it by adding steering assist to the linkage. It's expensive ($800 I think), but those on this list have shown it works well. 1 finger turning!

Since I race, I wanted HIGHLY reliable. So I chose to lower my steering mount.

The Riot doesn't appear to be as easy to modify like this. But we intend to modify it in some way while building the "Race Riot" which is in work.

Re: Test Drove a Riot....Oh Yeah!

Hey guys, thanks for the feedback.

Something I did not mention was the fact that the seat was all the way back. I don't have the longest legs or arms and felt that I was "reaching" a little for the steering wheel. I think if I had pulled the seat a little farther forward, I would have had a little more leverage.

Still very interested in the Riot, just need to take my Rhino down and start working the numbers.
