My first run in my riot

Well I will say the suspension is what you pay for. It sails through the whoops like nothing, The power is good but my turbo rzr is much faster. but the reliability factor was nice. The stupid clutch is annoying with how loud it is. Can I put on a rzr clutch (where the weights go) I had douglas doons on it but they spun the hell out of them so i bought some STU Blaster 26x12i will have to see if that may be too much paddle for the machine. Now what offset front wheels do I need for the sand? how expensive would it be to do a turbo? 400-500 in engine and 2000 in a turbo? The only other thing i can see that I do not like is the seat doesn't position itself correctly like the channel is broken. PS makes a huge difference. Otherwise It is a well built machine as I was hucking it at 40 foot doubles and it handles it fine. I think the front suspension may need to be stiffened to not g out at the bottom of the dunes. I push all of my sand toys to the limit to see if they can keep up with me. Happy new years everyone.

Re: My first run in my riot

The comet clutch does need to be lubricated on a regular basis. Only use the Comet brand dry lube. You can get it from Mike at Red Rock Power Sports. Also, you probably need to take the clutch apart and inspect the pivot bolts on the weights and replace if worn. The bushings on the weights also are a replaceable part and wear out. All of this will make the clutch rattle quite loudly. Also check the rollers on the spider, if there are any flat spots, rebuild the spider. The 2500 you mentioned for a turbo upgrade will get you about half way there.

Thanks, I see they also use the STM is there a certain quieter model that I can use with. Great performance. So all dry lives are not the same? And 5 k for a turbo kit. Hmm back to square one makes me think apex or z1 if I wanted to do a swap for 5k

A lot of people put a Team primary in place of the Comet. I don't know what part number. And no, not all dry lubes are created equal. There is no possible way transplanting an Apex or Z1 can be done for anything close to 5000. Call Chad at Wasteland Performance and see what he gets for a conversion...... I can assure you that the most cost effective HP gain in the Riot is with a turbo conversion on the Weber. Also, not all turbo conversions are the same. The 5000 number gets you absolutely everything you need. And that is a lot more than just than most people realize. Pistons, valves, gaskets, turbo, intake manifold, exhaust, turbo brackets, intercooler, all plumbing, AFR, Tach, boost, oil pressure, fuel pressure regulator, turbo control valve, ECU and all the lines connectors etc. Wasteland Performance puts together a kit or will do it for you. There are several guys that have these in their Revolts, but it is basically same for a Riot. The Wasteland kit does not include all the gauges and some of the other small stuff you need. Or you could just do your own thing and do it cheaper. I have had a Revolt and now a Riot with a turbo Weber and the power difference from stock is awesome.

Re: My first run in my riot

I agree totally with Klem. The weber turbo is the sh!t. And I mean that in the best way. $$$ for hp there is not a better deal. Apex or z1 you better figure another 3-4k for a rpm gearbox. The trans will NEVER take the hp of those conversions. My trans has blown 2 times now at the 140hp. I went too far with my scat 14 paddle rippers and grenaded my trans at 20-25 feet off the line. Time to clutch a little heavier for whole shot so I dont overbite and shockload the trans. If I blow another I will be doing a rpm or a rzr trans. I think working out a rzr trans is way more cost effective for the long run. I was the first to do the turbo I guess I will be the first for this also. Look for it next year. I have 3 transmissions in my parts inventory so I will get one more season out of redlines weak ass boxes. I hope anyway.
I have been told I should just back off of drag racing.lol I just cant give that rush up. It is way too much fun beating much higher hp machines with less hp. I like to frustrate people. But you all know that. Right Speedracer? He had to go z1 rzr to beat me. We will see if he can actually do it in may. Power to weight he does not have much advantage. Poke poke poke Toby.

Re: My first run in my riot

Redline was actually the first to do the turbo. There was a Riot turbo in the works that was being tested in the R&D department before the Riot was even released to the public. As you said though, the trannys would not hold up to the horsepower, especially jumping/landing on this hard Minnesota black dirt.

Ya, but Sandracer was the first owner to get turbo charged. The factory never sold any turboed cars to the public till after the doors were closed either. A lot of us, including myself were thinking of a way to do it, but Sandracer was the first. I think I was the first to get one to run like it should though. For the money spent, I think its the best way to go for reliable kick ass power and torque. All you guys that think you can put something else in there for less money and have as much power, go right ahead and knock yourselves out. When you finish getting it all dialed you'll find it wasn't any cheaper and then your stuck with a one off car that will really be hard to unload when your tired of it.

Re: My first run in my riot

Have you blown a trans yet Pilot?
And one day we will meet up and see whos runs right, or fastest.lol
You are the one on my list to run in a drag race. LOL
With all of your years doing it, it is kind of like lining up with the great john force of the redline world.
I am sure we will have a blast if it ever happens.
One day I will make it out that way.
Happy new year to you and the Oregon gang. Ride hard and safe this year.

Its all in fun Pilot. You have to miss the ribbing from the race days!

Never have broke a gearbox in the Revolt. I do have a spare in the trailer though. Your car must be running good now but it wasn't for the first year or so, but you were the test car. Happy new year to you guys also, looks like winter sucks in your area, the sun is shining today here and its beautiful in the Northwest.

Re: My first run in my riot

1 year would of been nice.lol It took longer than that all total. But it has been worth it. Winter sucks when it is just cold. The snow is awsome. I will be putting the truck in 4x4 and turning off the traction control. Let the fun begin. We are at about 10-11" right now and still coming down.
