drive belt R/R?

I know what the first answer is going to be to the question I am about to ask so i will ask a seperate question first:D
where can I get a service manual for an 08 revolt?

and for the problem that cant wait for a book..
any tips on the changing of the drive belt. i have looked any farther than seeing the belt that is about to break but would I be on tract to think that the clutch pressure can be released so that the belt can be removed with ease..
and no I dont have tool #72543026981412423104928-78159620987--6346423636 ;) so is there an emergency, I want to ride tomorrow and have a new belt, trick or tool mod I can make to make this happen. I looked around for a thread on how to change the belt but oddly enough did not find one. O did however find a few threads on what will happen if I don't change it now..\Thanks in advance for any info that might save my day....

The secondary clutch has a 1/4" course thread hole in the cover. Screw a bolt into it and the sheaves will widen and the belt will be loose enough to pull off. Put the new belt on and take the bolt out. There is also a allen head adjustment screw with a lock nut in the same cover that you can adjust the belt tension with by screwing in or out to adjust how loose the belt rides. You might have to tap on the clutch cover with a rubber or dead blow hammer while rotating by hand to get the sheaves to move back in place. You need to have some up and down free play movement in the belt.

if you have a rock cover over clutches take it off and then just roll the belt off starting at the driven clutch, very easy to do

It's just like changing a snowmobile belt. oh wait..you're from California.:D

Re: drive belt R/R?

Ya, good ole sunny cali…lol…I have only been on a snowmoble long enough to know I want one,,a Fast one.:D that is if we ever get any of that white stuff,, snow i think they call it, to ride them in..
I have almost forgot how fast my boat is and from the looks of everything they will have sound laws on the water before there is enough to run it again and then I never will get to be reminded..
maybe California will let me use my oars to row it out a hundred yards so the wife and her friends can lay out on the front of it and at least it would be used.
I understand that they want to keep the noise down on the lake cause they don't want to hear any bitching from the owners of the 10 houses they have to plow the road for everyday during the winter incase one of them needs to get to the store, that our tax dollars from buying loud and fast toys actually pays for.
I Can't go shooting for fear they will take my bullets. can't take the quads out with the buggies cause you can't ride the quads in the buggy areas and you can't ride the buggies in the quad areas. and you will get a ticket for doing anything that looks like you could loose control,,,
It should be illegal to put my helmet on then,,:-)…I told that to a cop and I thought he was going to write me another ticket for illegally talking in the state of California:rolleyes:
California,,,lets take a bunch of cops that don't like motorcycles or kids and put them in a motorcycle park to patrol families on bikes..they should be happy cops though with all of the vacation time they get..
Park is closed, its going to rain..
Park is closed, it rained yesterday
park is closed, to hot and dusty can't make the neighbors unhappy by getting dust on there new house they just built next to a motorcycle park that has been in the middle of no where for 50 years..
trail closed,-two birds doing wild thing in the middle of the trail. don't want to disturb them
welcome to california were birds can shut down a trail with a hardon but humans are not allowed to fart without distubing the peace..
where a bunch of tree huggers can tie there self to a tree or climb up in and live for weeks at a time costing people $1000 of dollars waiting for them to get tired of drinking there own pee.. don't you dare take chunks with your mirror or tie a recovery strap around a tree to get yourself out of a hole because of the harm it will cause..
I recall seeing a photo of a ladys house who was standing in the of the trail keeping fourwheelers from going up a because the were scaring a tree with straps and mirrors..in the photo there was a beautiful oak tree in the middle of the neatly trimmed front yard, a man in the back ground with a gas powered blower big enough to power my boat across the lake and guess what was hanging from the oak tree.. we used to call it a football target, engine hoist, deer skinner, they call it a tire swing..
in Oregon they build campgrounds with race tracks and fishing ponds and cool bridges to get over the railroad tracks to access the dunes..why? Douglas county couldnt survive without it..
In cali you have to cross 3 feet of water with our rigs, bikes and gear the generate millions of tax dollars every week just to get to a camp spot near the dunes..lol
Oregon actually figured out that with out the tires on the bikes churning up some sand the grass was NOT growing any faster but actually slower,,
why,, because they used some funding and actually sent someone out to follow up on the areas they closed off..

dang it,, see what you did..you mentioned the word California ..

Thank you guys fore the info on the belt change..I spent more time looking at it trying to figure the best way to do it than actually doing it.. Only to climb in and get a ticket for being to loud on my way to the ranger station to get the supertapp exhaust i put together sound tested. some how the statement that I was heading to the ranger station to get a sound check, with wrenches to remove disc's in my pocket, sounded like BULL.. at least I was able to go home early, get my stuff put away and start gathering info to file my taxes

Sorry for the outburst..:D if someone wants to move this, delete it or spank me for it..feel free to do so..I think I feel better getting it off my chest..

Once again, thankyou for the quick responses…..DAWG

Hey! Bitch all you want, it's only the truth. You need to get out to Cal City in Mohave. Bring it & run it. We go out there every Thanksgiving, well... the week before. No place for a boat, but great riding/driving territory.

I keep thinking how lucky we are up here in Oregon. We bitch about the restrictions on us but we don't have it very bad compared to our neighbors to the south. Sounds like you've been to Riley Ranch. Before they built the bridge they would shuttle us to Spin Reel or Hauser for free. Then we just called them and they would come and pick us up and take us back to camp. They had 2 vans and trailers so we never had to wait long.

Re: drive belt R/R?

3 or 4 trips a year up the coast is ussually my goal..spinreel couple of times, halfmoon bay for clean up in april and a couple of riley trips planned. lemolla lake has been on the gps a few times now in january to piss off the snowmobilers with quad rutts..

This year t-day will be at Pismo.. If any of you haven't been there in the last year I would suggest getting back again and checking it out. 2 years ago it was so flat you could see the water from the bottom of comp hill. was down there a couple of months back and taking a second look before attempting to go up or down in some places..dunes with no tops and bowl after bowl. kinda had a Glamis, with smaller bowls, feel to it.

Maybe put Cal City on the calendar for next year. It would be fun to get out and ride with some other buggys.
made it out to Razor Road just below Baker a couple of years back and that was a blast. All terrain riding for sure, well except for the lack of mud..
