adding a gauge

Has anyone added a temp gauge and if so how did you do it? It already had a temp sensor but how does the dummy light and the fan work with the sensor?

Re: adding a gauge

Thanks I read that after my post, I still wonder if you can hook one up to the existing sensor though . I'll just do the inline one it looks simple enough.

Re: adding a gauge

Has anyone added a fan to the oil coolers yet, I'm thinking of taking the paint off and mounting a puller fan on the outside. I wonder how many amp the car can puts out for eccesories , so far I added 35watt HID x2 = 70 maybe 2 amps each light so that's 4amp.

I removed the stock piaa's at 55 watts each not sure of amps
so I have a surplus of 40 watts, then I added a 10"LED lightbar 35 watts amps n/a.
It looks like I added about 6 amps give or take and not knowing the amps the 12" fan draws would it be possible to run a 6.5 7" fan on the oild cooler also.

Re: adding a gauge

I added a little fan to my oil cooler. I take out my Headlights for racing so I have no issues with Amp draw. Another Racer hooked his oil fan to his light switch. I got the fan from a friend who sold some Chinese buggys. I just have an on/ off switch so it is always on while im racing. No thermostat

Re: adding a gauge

Your stock charging system will be fine with an extra fan on the oil cooler. I have the oil cooler fan connected to the radiator fan circuit so when the radiator fan runs, so does the oil cooler fan. Depending on the amperage of your oil cooler fan, increase the radiator fan fuse size to 20amp and all will be good. I can run both OEM headlights too with no issues.

As for the coolant temp gauge, there's a water jacket port on the left side of the motor just above the oil filter for a sending unit:

Re: adding a gauge

Cool thanks , actually I was thinking of doing that very same thing running it of the fan thermostat. By the way programmer hooked up and working, I have it on the base settings going out this weekend also bring a colder set of plugs alone with just to see if it changes much or not. next month I'll get the AFR gauge, Thans agian.

Shhhh, it's a secret! Actually, it's connected to the boost port on my fuel pressure regulator. There's some more changes coming though...of course I'll try to give you a shout before Saturday.
