Low budget swaybar

My revolt had a nice back bumper when I bought it from HMF. After racing short course against the Pilot guys, last year, I realized I needed a swaybar. I was just as fast or faster out of the corners and up the straightaways.
I bought a Honda 700xx swaybar off ebay for 38 bucks delivered. I made a plate to mount the bar to then welded it to the back bumper facing forward toward the steel upper radius arms. Welded tabs on the radius arms and done. It may be a little weak but if I can pull donuts and drift a little better in the turns it will be well worth it.
Test drive tomorrow or this weekend.

If it is too weak I just found a aftermarket 700xx bar which is 11/16ths vs the stock 7/16ths. $219 http://www.l8tonracing.com/product_p/h700-sb-xl-11.htm

Re: Low budget swaybar

For $39 that is a great option. But if you have to spend the $219 I would look at the sway bar the rest of us are running from 777 Racing. It is $375 but runs through the frame under the seat and is connected to the trailing arms like it should be. I am curious to see how yours works out. Keep us posted.

Re: Low budget swaybar

John at 777 quoted me just over 400 late last year.
I had another brainstorm; I could mount a second (cheap ebay) 700xx sway bar for twice the torsional resistance if one is not enough.
I just bought another complete kit for $29.95 delivered from ebay.

Re: Low budget swaybar

Great idea for sure. Keep us posted. It sure is a cool feeling to be able to rip donuts in the Revolt after driving it stock.

Re: Low budget swaybar

Pulled my first donuts today!! First try felt so good I went around twice.
Still some lean and a bit sketchy getting them started. Drifted some high speed corners and it felt alot better than before. Day was cut short when I got a flat. With a second swaybar hooked up it should be rock steady.
