It will work depending on your steering shaft angles. My setup is on a Riot and adding the third u-joint was a must for proper u-joint angles (a u-joint on both sides of the quickener).
You might also consider a steering quickener that will allow you to change ratios. The 2:1 may be some seriously hard turning, so having the option to go down to 1.5:1 or so should be considered. Remember, the increased steering effort will be closely proportional to the ratio change of the quickener, so make sure you can live with that. A 2:1 quickener will roughly double your current steering effort.
