oil in intake from roll-over.... now what?

Hey guys,
I removed my intake system to make it bigger (similar to Bearfoots),
and I found a layer of clay of oil and dirt that was sitting at the bottom inside the plastic canister... I removed also my intake throttle system which was full of oil residue on the inside... (I think it was from to races ago from when I rolled) Everything is cleaned up and its going back to its place.. and Im also checking the plugs just in case... is there anything else I should check?

Im now rerouting my oil breather hose to another filter... and obviously the K&N is not doing it job correctly, with all the dirt that got in there... now the question is, should I leave a bit of oil inside the canister, just in case by any chance dirt gets in there again or what?... or what else should I do besides changing filter?.... I dont think I want any dirt going in to the engine... thanks guys.... any comments appreciated...

After it was cleaned

I spray K&N oil in the intake hose and air box, as a last ditch filter.
I let it dry before I run it.

I'm loosing faith in K&N. I may change mine to a two stage Uni-filter.

I doubt it... if this was a real concern it probably would of had been all over the forum already... we would see trashed engines because of this... everywhere...

but then again, everybody rides in different environment conditions....
I think that making changes to your proper air filter riding set up should solve the thing.... if there would be a worst case scenario it would problalby be us racers with all the dust... and my engine has not had any problems so far...

Im just glad I caught it, ill definitely be taking appropriate measures to prevent it from reoccurring..

by the way, here's a picture of the new set up...
I was able to stretch the the opening to fit a 2.75" tube inside it, seal the area between the plastic and the tube with quicksteel, then a blue adapter, then the chrome plastic tube of 3"..

Look'n good!
I ordered a uni today. I'll ebay my K&N.
I bought a 2.5" I.D. x 4 x 6 $18.95 + shipping.
1/2 the price of a K&N. Looking through Uni's catalog, they sell K&N foam filter wraps for around $9.95.

thanks bearfoot... looks like ill be ordering a uni filter also soon...

the original concept since a while ago, was to make a complete new air box from alum that would expand lower than the plastic one... but after I saw your mod, I think this set up should work really good...
