gear box oil leak

Just wanting to know if anyone has had this problem, I have a small pinhole in the top of the gearbox. In the pic the knife points to the pinhole. Also i up to suggestions as how to fix it. Thanks Bazz

Degrease the area really well and use some JB Weld. Fixed for sure, you don't even need to drain it.

Bazz, Jb-weld is a two part, epoxy. I dont think they sell it downunder. You should be able to find, another brand.

Sorry, didn't pay attention to your location. Yes, a good all purpose epoxy sold at auto parts stores should easily and perminantly correct the problem.

Yes, I have seen this once before. I don't believe this a common problem, but the early gearboxes ('07 - '08) are made with a Sand Casting process and what you have is a pin hole air pocket in the casting that is letting the oil make its way to the outside of the box. The new style Gear boxes are made with a Die Cast process. Gromet is "right on" with the fix. Brake cleaner, a blow nozzle, and some JB weld.

Bazz what's up with the little knife? Where's your Crocodile Dundee pig sticker? LOL :D

If you can't find JB or something similar, get a hold of us and we'll see if we can get some over to you.

Mike, that's no knife...that's a Leatherman. Standard issue for any Aussie in the bush.
