Oil line issues

My first attempt to work on my Revolt was not a good experience. Guess Im spoiled by the Honda engineers. First off, one of the seat mounting bolts/nuts was cross threaded on. Had to hack up the stock hole in the skid in order to get a ratchet on the bolt/nut. Found out the oil resevior has to be removed/loosend in order to remove the battery. The head of the hose clamps are right up against the side plastic. Its clear this was done BEFORE the plastic was installed. If the clamps were moved 180* it would make this a much easier task. After removing the battery, I inspected the oil lines. The line coming off the bottom of the reservior leading to the motor is almost rubbed clear through. It is rubbing underneath the intake box. I can also see where the oil line thats coming off the back of the oil cooler and runs down to the bottom of the motor already has a piece of hose zip tied around it where its also rubbing. This is with only 15.5 hrs on the motor. I was told by the dealer who called redline that mine has already had the updated oil lines installed.
If you havent checked your lines for rubbing you should before it ruins your day!

Re: Oil line issues

Zaniac, how would you compare the revolt to the pilot in terms of handling, power, steering, suspension, etc.

Re: Oil line issues

Yep! I have had to replace that lower line where it comes out of the oil reservoir. I found that if I shim the oil reservoir by putting a little extra "material" in the lower bracket where the oil reservoir contacts the chassis, it pushes the bottom of the reservoir out just enough that it doesn't contact the top of the battery. Not ideal........but it's working for now.

Yep.........to get the battery out means loosing up the oil reservoir! I've done that at least 3 times (not because of battery issues). Once for battery replacement, once for split oil line replacement, once to replace the reservoir after blowing up all of the driver weights and one went through the side of the reservoir.

Finish and fit of Redline products is no where near a Yamaha or Rhino. But it's usually little crap that is easily remedied. Granted, we shouldn't HAVE to go remedy little crap like that.........but........we are where we are!

If i remember their was a recall on the early one. Might want to call the factory JUST TO MAKE SURE IT COULD HAVE BEEN INSTALLED WRONG
