Angry Clutch upgrade sanfu!!

Okay Folks,

In an effort to claim my problems as well as triumphs, I find that I must come completely clean. In a few forums you may have seen me chest pounding about the joys of my new Polaris drive clutch.

Well, nothing about that has changed!! I love it and it works awesome and its tuned great. Now for the baring of my soul. It seems that there is a minor difference in the angle on the new clutch as opposed to the angle on the Comet clutch and the crankshaft. I will work on that sollution and post when I have a result.

As for the pictures. Yes, it took a ball joint remover wedge, a whole can of WD-40, and that retarded looking clutch puller. Oh yeah, and six hours!! I was damn near a major case of depression and way past chunking stuff!! LOL.

So there you have it, my claim to fame!! Thought you all may need a good laugh at a smug SOB's expense!! I earn it at times..... BNGCustoms, you get first shot for my funnin two days ago......

Oh yeah and the real cool part.... When it finally popped loose it got about three feet of air time crossing the garage!!

Sorry to hear you had problems. But Bears are smart! you'll figure it out.

I had to laugh about the clutch air time. It sounds like something that would happen to me.

Re: Clutch upgrade sanfu!!

When I was giving advise about trial and error on the clutch setup, springs and weights I wasn't kidding about just try something and see what happens. I live by my words.... Lead, follow or get the hell outa the way!! LOL

By the way, I once hit my finger so hard with a hammer(not on purpose) that I crushed the index finger bone tip and split the end of the finger like a grape. The finger nail fell off shortly!! And I wouldn't have it any other way......LOL Being a gear head has it's fatal flaws........ But it sure is fun at times after the tragic moments. At least till the next bright idea comes into my head.

Re: Clutch upgrade sanfu!!

A polaris clutch from a 2000 to 2005 big block 800 works. If you purchase a used one make sure it hasn't been used up, those big block twins are hard on clutches. A polaris clutch puller is not long enough to bottom out in the pto end of the Redline Weber motor, you need to make an extension that will bottom. We are using the polaris clutch and a puller that we fabricated and it works great.

So if I take a clutch from a 2001 Polaris 800 it should work? What bolt do I use to hold the clutch on?
