Weber 800cc turbocharged w/alternator

Are these Weber 800cc turbo motors out of the snowmobile line? If so, I'm kinda curious why these wern't or are not used in the buggy line..and are the 800cc turbo charged motors a direct bolt in? They are claiming 130 HP!!...

Re: Weber 800cc turbocharged w/alternator

They are a little different. The turbo is part of the intake manifold. They have an external alternator, that's belt driven. I think they would fit in an XL or Riot. I'm not sure if the out-put shaft is on the correct side.
I think the difference between the 120hp to the 130hp is the addition of a charge cooler.

Re: Weber 800cc turbocharged w/alternator

I would be more than happy to share the info when I do the swap!! My thought is if something was to happen to the factory engine then this might be a alternative replacement if the original factory engine was not rebuildable or for some reason not cost effective to rebuild. With the turbo being part of the intake manifold it does look like it would be in the way of the seat on a standard Revolt.

Re: Weber 800cc turbocharged w/alternator

I read on the Weber motor site that the head can be rotated 180 degrees on the MPE 750. Maybe the 800 is the same. This should put the turbo on the rear side of vehicle. I don't know if there is room for it above the tranny. Rerouting of the exhaust would also be a factor, being next to the seat. But a firewall should help.

Re: Weber 800cc turbocharged w/alternator

I heard from the Redline factory the the turbo kit is finely about to be released, it should be announced real soon!!!

Racer folks, keep in mind, it IS NOT legal in many race leagues, so be careful!!

One of the turbo Weber engines is available as an engine swap kit in the Polaris RZR. Wasteland Performance offers a 75hp NA engine, a 100hp turbo, and a 130hp turbo with intercooler.
It might be the same engine that is in the Redline, not sure... I think it is the 750 MPE.

Same engine Tuf-skin. 750mpe, but the you have to have the ecu and all that goes with that. The Redline factory option will be minimal work to reconfig. I've seen the wasteland Weber installed in a RZR-S and it looked like crapola. Ran that way too. Oil can up front near the radiator looked homemade and leaked like a seive. Rather have an engineered product.

Ya they have changed that and look better now. I think they use a plastic tank from a jet ski for the oil now. But if Redline is coming out with a turbo kit that would be the way to go.

Nice vid's!! In all fairness, since the last post you quoted, learned the motor was used and that by the time I started helping him, he already burned the bearings out of the turbo!! BTW, how's the diff holding up in that wheelie rider?
