No more then 6200 Rpm

Hi I have a redline riot and I can't get it over 6200 rpm well under load. It will rev over 6200 in neutral only. Please help me with any ideas please and thank you in advance.

More info needed. Is it normally aspirated or turbo charged? Is it firing on both cylinders. They tend to be rich at idle and can foul a spark plug quite easily. Have you changed the fuel filter lately. It needs to be changed at least once a year. Did it pull more rpm's before this problem? Is the ECU plugged in all the way? Are the coils plugged in all the way. Does it have a Big Gun programmer on it? Are the clutches in good shape?

Okay sorry this is my first toy like this. I changed the spark plugs and the fuel filter, the only thing I have not changed is the air filter. It runs good but does not want to go over 62-6300 under load but in neutral it does

Did it used to rev to 8,000 under a load. It should if nothing is wrong. The only time we have not been able to get that kind of rpm was at high altitude of 5000 feet or more. We could only get about 7200 rpm with the stock clutching and injectors.

Re: No more then 6200 Rpm

I just bought this riot it's my first one and before I change the spark plugs and the fuel filter that never used to rev up since I've got it now that I have changed both of those things it revs up high in neutral but under a load it feels like it holds back just a little bit and it only goes to 6200 rpm

Also make sure you are getting full throttle. Have someone push the pedal down and then check at the throttle bodies to see if they are fully open.

Yes check that you have full throttle. That has been an issue with some cars. Has the engine been apart? If the timing chain wasn't reinstalled correctly, the timing would be off and it could cause a severe loss of power.

One of our group was having that issue with his RIOT on our last outing at L/S. We found his MAP sensor was bad. Make sure you are not venting your oil tank into the airbox. Change the sensor and see what happens.
