Nytro Motor Swap in Revolt

Greetings All-

I thought I would share a preview of my winter project. I purchased a 2008 Yamaha Nytro motor. The Nytro is a 1050CC triple that produces 138 HP at 8600 RPM and 90 FT LBS of torque at under 7500 RPM. Turbocharged I have found them making as much as 500 HP. Now I do not need 500 HP in my revolt but there is potential in this motor for as much power as you want.

Here is a link to some of my inspiration and motivation:

Here is a picture of the motor.

My first challenge was to find a way to align the clutches. So I built an alignment tool. I first started by maching the head of a bolt to a point that can be installed into the PTO of the Weber motor.

Next I made a bar that slides onto the input shaft of the gearbox. I was then able to scribe a line on the bar to get a center point for drilling my hole for PTO center. The tool worked out very well and should allow me to not only align the clutch centers but also get me real close to being able to shim the clutch alighment.

Next I needed a jig to support the motor while positioning it in place to fab motor mounts. This is what i came up with, it is fully adjustable via threaded rod.

More to follow as I get time to work on it.

Here are a few more pictures with the motor sitting in place. I think the biggest challenge will be building motor mounts that will allow the motor to be removed...

I have a newer gearbox as this is a 2010. I would however like to upgrade to an RPM gearbox just to make sure I don't have issues there.

BTW, do you have any Videos of your Z1 powered in action?

Re: Nytro Motor Swap in Revolt

I got the motor plate back from the laser cutter this week. Here are a few pictures:

The tabs will allow me a place to weld my supports to the motor mount locations. I will be using 1" DOM to support the mounts. More to follow...
