Exhaust Heat shield

I had noticed that the top of the transmission was getting very hot. It was due to the radiant heat, from the collector and main tube of the exhaust.
So I made a small change to my exhaust. A heat shield around the exhaust, next to the transmission. I used a section of 2.5" aluminized exhaust pipe. The mounts are 1/4" hot rolled rod.
I was going to wrap it, but I thought the mild steel pipe, couldn't handle it.

It made a big difference. After long high speed runs, I can hold on to the trans, without frying my had. It should make the gear lube last longer too.

Re: Exhaust Heat shield

Looks good ! Great Idea,......

Bearfoot, thanks again for taking care of me with the steering box shim kit... It made a huge difference and remove any play I had in the box. The steering is all tight now....

It took a lot of the vibrations out of the steering wheel also..... Thanks again
