New Turbo Installation

Here are a few pictures of Dave's, "Pilot" turbo installation. Exhaust is complete. The plumbing for intercooler is close to being done. Intake mock up is next. Look for at least two more of these conversions soon. Rumor is Klemdotter and Jtap00 have all the parts on the way. Also the word is Frogger will soon be on the juice. NOS, that is..........

Are you going to bump up to a 12" fan to get some extra flow for the Air to Air cooler? Or what is the thought there?

Nice clean install so far I have to say! Dave you never disappoint.

Thinking that there will be enough flow with the intercooler mounted above the seat.. If not, then will try something else....Would probably consider 12 fan on radiator because of engine overheating if it becomes an issue.

Re: New Turbo Installation

Mike, we went to Florence in March for spring brake and I had the intercooler mounted in front of the radiator to see if it ran hot. It didn't seem to change the engine temp at all. We'll have to see what it does when the weather gets hot. I might have to put a 12" fan on and maybe wire to a manual toggle to keep it cool. Just have to see. Well back to work, hoping to have it done for our spring fling run to Florence April 23rd weekend.

Re: New Turbo Installation

The turbo set up is off a Polaris FST snowmobile. Major Mahem has a RZR with the Weber turbo conversion and he has upgraded to the Mark Queen larger turbo and header plus the Vipech ecu and injectors. I now have all his take off parts plus many others from various suppliers like Mike at Redrock. It sure helps to have a great friend like Major Mahem (Bruce). Since I started this project, Klemdotter and Jtap have also started gathering parts for their cars. More info to come.

Re: New Turbo Installation

Going to use a manual controller. Max 15 lbs. boost. You need to get the turbo injectors, ECU, Map sensor. You have to change the pistons to turbo low compression and change the valves to turbo valves. You will need to get an oil line made for the pressure side of the turbo and a oil return line. You need the exhaust manifold and the oil return flange for the turbo. Where did you get the turbo from? I got all my stuff out of Canada. There is a lot more to the conversion so keep in touch.
