Gibson exhaust info

Well I got my Gibson just in time to mount it and head west for the race. I wasn't sure how it would be but I knew I wouldn't be able to stand the noise of the Biggun for that long of a race. I was very surprised, and pleased with the look and fit of the system. The noise level was low enough that I could have run without ear plugs. I usually wear them because I'm trying to save what hearing I have left. I know it sounds different from the cockpit, but I had a couple of people come up and tell me that it sounded really good. I like the fact that it is a mechanical system and therefor doesn't need repacking. I was always late changing the packing so I'm sure that had something to do with it being louder.

As far as performance goes, I never had the car on a dyno with the Biggun so I don't have anything but the seat of my pants to judge the power. I couldn't tell any difference but I haven't had any time to play with the programmer yet.
I didn't start this post to dog on Biggun, just wanted to give a report on the Gibson. Heck, 30 years ago I would have been running the Biggun with no packing just to make it louder!!! It would have sounded great next to my dual glass packs on my truck. Thats probably why I like it quiet now..
I'll post more info later on how it holds up.

I'm not sure Art. I think that the way the bracket is made you could make it work on both machines. They told me this had a different type of support welded to the muffler than the first ones. I think they had problems with the other one drying out. I'll take some pics of it mounted. This is one I took before mounting.

Re: Gibson exhaust info

Roughly, what was the cost of this system & where did you get yours?

Gibson is about a 1/2 hour from my home.
I am just trying to get a price comparison from your area to mine.

Thanks.
