Engine to trans distance effects

The center to center distance is supposed to be 12 inches. But what if it were like 11.5 inches? Would this cause the top end to decrease? What if the distance were greater than 12 inches? Would it cause the top end to increase?

Am pretty sure you would just need a different size belt. Assuming your clutch is tuned correctly the only factors that will change your top speed is tire size and engine RPM

Hey Jay, Scott is right about the belt, RPM and Tire size which affects your final gear ratio and far as how much ground you cover in one tire rotation. Internal gear ratios can also play into it. One thing that I noticed on my Revolt that as my belt wore and I didn't adjust for wear that the starting ratio wasn't as deep and I didn't get the grunt at the bottom. I make sure to keep my belt adjusted up into the top of the secondary clutch but not more that 1/8" sticking out.
