What Sensor Am I Talking About?

There is a sensor on the intake area, just above the throttle cable inlet located between both intake runners. It is about the size of a match box. It seems to sense either air temperature or air flow. I'm not sure which. On my Riot, it is pushed into an aluminum block and has an o-ring sealing it from the outside. When I disconnect it, the idle sucks and the rig seems to run super rich.

What is this sensor? I had a connection issue with mine and it was running poorly. Fixing the connection made it run better. So what's it doing?

Eric's right. It measures air temp and manifold air pressure. It can affect you engines fuel injection system. I had a bad connection in mine (the plug wasn't all they way in)and it ran extremely rich and would stall at idle. This can also happen when it becomes dirty (contaminated).
