Vulture Mine Race - Dec 6th, 2008

We had a good showing at Whiplash's Vulture Mine race on Saturday. Myself (Jay) and Aaron were there representing the Redline Revolt's in the field. The race was VERY rough and very technical. Carnage was HUGE among all UTVs. The course was littered with broken rigs...............but not a Redline!!!!

We were running 27 mile laps, 3 laps in all. Times for me were 44 min, 44 min, and 46 minutes, finishing 1st in my class adn 4th overall (in a class of about 30 rigs). I'm not sure where Aaron finished, but could not have been far behind.

Rig ran great and made a lot of UTVs look slow. Amazing how these will soak up the whoops while a lot of heavily modified UTVs bounce all over the place.

Looking forward to the next race. Maybe we'll get Damon out to show was one on Elka shocks can do in the desert!!!!!!

Hey Jay,

Do they allow you to have a pit crew with you to fuel and such in those Whiplash races?

Re: Vulture Mine Race - Dec 6th, 2008

I figured they might Jay but I had to ask. I used to race District 38 in El Centro 23 years ago and we had them there. I'm interested in coming down to race with you guys but I am just gathering all the facts. I've heard a little bit about Whiplash before this forum but it is great to ask someone who knows the ropes before I was to show up. I would not want to show up unprepared. It has something to do with being an Old Boy Scout.

Yes, pit crews are allowed. And I always seem to be short help! Can never have enough. Actually, at this race, I had no one to support me until about 2 hours before the race. Stumbled across some buddies who were racing after us in the trucks and had some spare time during my race to help. Worked out great.

Found out today that Aaron placed third as well! So..........good stuff. So the manufacturer rigs were:

1) REdline Revolt
2) Honda Pilot
3) Redline Revolt
4) Some other rigs like RZRs, Rhinos, Rangers, etc....

Do they let you pre-run the course before the race? Do you take home trophys or cash for a win or place?

Some of the races, yes, they allow a pre-run. ONly for those registered for the race. And they usually charge something for a prerun.

Awards are typically a trophy for the Sport Mod class. Pros get cash. 1st place in this last race paid out $600. Entry fee was $200 for pros, $100 for sport mod.
