WhipLash Last Chance Gp (Speed World)

My son and I had a blast at this one hr long, GranPrix style race. It was a 6 mile long course. Part of the course was run out through the desert, part was run on the Lucus off road course in front of the stadium grandstands. The course was exceptionally well watered, :D to help keep dust to a minimum ( Nothing that $15.00 worth of quarters at the car wash couldn't take care of. )They had water trucks running around during the race watering the course. I dont think anybody will say it was dusty.
We finished 1st in class and fourth overall! Top speeds were down ( 59 mph) compared to the Snowflake Race. There were 2 sections where you could get up to speed, One reallly long sandwash and the backstretch going back onto the Lucas course. I havent put in a air/fuel meter set up yet, so my first attempt at adjusting the Big Gun fuel controller purchased form Red Rock Rail had me backfiring when snapping the throttle shut from wide open. If I rolled the throttle closed, no back fire. I'm either too rich or too lean (LoL) Other then the backfiring the Riot ran great. I had a Rzr-S driver that I passed during the race, from the next class up, come up to me afterwords and comment on how fast the Riot is.
The adjustments made to the Elka shocks after the last race are getting closer. The rear end is not kicking up near as much off the jumps and I was able to go through the rocker/whoop section quickly ;).
I'm hoping that everything works out ok with the Redline factory closing story. Mike at Red Rock has continued to come through with all my parts upgrades and needs.
Money permitting, next upgrade is the air/fuel controller.

Thanks for all the kind words and support!

Dude :)

Good Job guys ! That's cool you can do this with your son. What a DAD !

Got any photos?

I would guess you're getting a lean pop. That sounds similar to the stock fuel set up. Do you have a pipe? That would do it.
An Air/fuel gauge would be worth the money.

Congrats on the race!! It's fun to read your recap of your races. As far as the "dust" goes, I'll take mud over dust any day.
Were you racing against any of the new Can-Ams?

Sorry guys! My wife didnt go with us this time ( something about leaving the house at 4:00 am  must not have appealed to her ) and take any photos. If you go to the UTV Underground website there is a video of the 1st and second place UTVs going at it for about 6 minutes. I believe the Utv that spins out on the Lucas track is a Rhino based engine model. Its amazing to watch him reel in a T-rex based engine UTV in such a short amount of time. I've got an email into Mike at Red Rock, I forgot to remove the headlights before the race :o and they both ended up shattered from the amount of mud hitting the Riot.
I'm spending my day off today cleaning race uniforms, air filters, helmets ect. I've raced in mud and dust. After a dust race, I'm always complaining I could have gone faster. After a mud race, I'm complaining about the cleanup. Nose to tail racing on single track in the mud, Having handfulls of mud trown in your face and then having it slid down into your crotch and lay there until your lap is full, kind of makes you give that water truck operator the " Look " when you pass by him each lap.
My son comented that he was able to stay out of the roost by ducking behind the GPS. I'm not quite sure thats why I installed it ( LoL) :).

I havent seen a Can Am at the track yet. My brother told me about a UTube video where a Can Am wont engage 4wd and a rhino leves it behind stuck in the mud. The second part of the video shows a Can Am jumping at the dunes. The throttle is not mechanical and is a fly by wire Unit. When the tires left the dune surface the engine rpm went to idle ( even though the operator held the accellorator to the floor ) and it nose dived into the landing and flipped end over end. My brother commented that the roll bar held up really well .
I recieved this information second hand. I havent seen the video. It sounds like they are having some first year/model issues that everyone goes through.
I was at the local dealer trying to find some Roll-Off refills Saturday before the race. The customers were lined up looking at all the Razor-S models. It's too bad Redline couldn't have hung in there just a little longer. The sales people had that big grin on their faces. Not much negotiation room on price this close to dune season.

I've raced Whiplash on that same long course about a year ago in my Revolt. 1st in class as well. No doubt about it, Redlines DESTROY those other UTVs on that course. Great work, man! Keep tearin' 'em up.

Maybe I'll see you at the Snowflake race in April this coming year!!!
