Whiplash Snowflake Race 9/7/2010

Well it wasnt muddy this year" LOL". I have fixed the brake failure when racing problem. We gave it all we had ( and had a absolute blast while we were doing it ) but we came up short of a win. As of Saturday night at 6:30 pm ( yes it was a long day ) we finished in 3rd place in the Super Stock class. The 1st place winner in the Super Stock class finished 2nd Overall. The only one to beat him was Robert Van Beekum in the Unlimited class. There had been a protest filed ( I dont know for which class or for what reason) and the official results were to be posted Sunday. It was a 90 degree day and dusty. The last lap and a half of the five lap 140 mile race was " very" dusty. My son was working the GPS and using hand signals to guide me. When I could no longer see his hand I would yell out " Which way" After several times of literally coming to a complete stop and waiting for the dust to clear. He replied " Quit asking, Hellen Keller has seen more of this course than I have". Our pit stops were slow due to the refueling time, we burned 4.5 gallons in 56 miles. It took at least a minute to get that 4.5 gallons in the stock tank. I still need to spend more time adjusting the suspension on the big bumps. The top end charges on the open straights were fun . If you'd like to go a little faster in your Riot, give Mike and Linda at Red Rock Rails a call! They can get you headed in the right direction. When Whiplash posts the official results I'll try to get them put up, along with the lap times. Our average speed was 42mph ? Thats what the gps sez I have had the Riot for a little over a year now. This Redline websight has made all the difference. It seems as though the members have seen most of the problems already and I have used your information to help me eliminate problems before they accoured. I cant express how fully I appreciate this

Thanks,

Dude

Go to the second page on the link above.
It has pix of a real simple fuel tank vent setup.
He tells me after this mod fill ups are no longer a problem.
Thanks for the race review

Re: Whiplash Snowflake Race 9/7/2010

Bobby's tough to beat! Last year I was running the best I have ever run, I placed second, at that race, and Bobby beat me by about 2 minutes. And he had 2 flat tires during the race that he got changed in his pit. So..........he's fast. I was running my Revolt. He tore me up in the woods and the twist/turn stuff. And since he had me on top end, I couldn't keep up. Was frustrating, but fun!!! I didn't feel too bad as he had about $70k into his rig and I had about $15k!

Do you know what your top speed was during the wide open sections? I think I was running 65mph while Bobby was around 68 or 70mph.

Thumbs up Re: Whiplash Snowflake Race 9/7/2010

Judging by 4 by nuts comments on last years top speeds, I would have been pretty close. Razor, T-rex and Rhino racers all read our site It's tough to decide how much info I should give out and still be competitive.. With "a lot" of help from my wife I have now got a photo album. I'll add your name to my friends list, along with Rrawtry and Red Rock tonight so you can look at the Riot so far.

Mike,

You need to set up an avatar so you don't look like a big question mark on my friends list. Thanks for the invite and the pics look good. FYI - In the game of chess if you tell your opponent what you next move (strategy) is going to be you'll never beat him .

Mike
