To have a bumper or not?

Lawn darted it. Yes I know the old look before you leap motto. Well the stock bumper was smashed. So I cut it off and was surprised that I liked the way it looks. My question is how much impact does the stock bumper absorb. If it acts like a crumple zone then I will make a new one but not sure if I need it. What is your guys opinions?

On a side note: this car is built very well. A lawn dart at this speed would have killed anything less. This is great car!

Re: To have a bumper or not?

we need photos of the car man!!!
how can you torture us with the story and no pics?..... lol

I think its important, because as you said... it kind of absorbed some force, to try to prevent your frame from damaging... but once again.. its allum...

if you lawn darted and rolled... you might want to check your front shock mounts for any possible damage, before you go and ride it again... thats one of the weak spots...
also make sure there is no binding in your front shock, with the upper arms... inspect all possible damage.....

Re: To have a bumper or not?

It didn't roll. At the time I thought I was going to go end over end. I have checked everything. Just the rod ends on one side were bent, broken HiPer wheel and the bumper.

Re: To have a bumper or not?

The bumper would have been worse but I had a tow strap bungeed inside of the bumper. Well here are some pictures but nothing crazy. The wheel on the left side has already been shipped to Hiper. So the stocker sits in its place.

You can see the two outer rod ends on the upper control arm and steering arm are slightly bent.
