Snorkel Size Does Matter

I made a bigger snorkel, for more air, to keep up with the Big Gun fuel Controller. I used 2.5" [63.5 mm] silicon hose. The new K&N is over twice the size of the factory filter.
The air box needed a bigger opening, so I heated it and stretched it out to 2.75".

Snorkel size does matter, so I'm told.

Re: Snorkel Size Does Matter

I got the chance to test out my new intake and Big Gun Controller.
Wow!

Full RPM (7500) @ 7000 feet altitude! Drifting the corners was a blast.

Got pictures of the BIG GUN KIT by chance?Does this mod need to be completed before you hook up the Big Gun programmer, or did you add so much fuel it was necessary to get more air for the correct mixture for top end?

Hey Bear foot

Do you have some video about that drifting you are talking about?
It would be interesting to see how fast you can go trough those corners..

Im wondering if you might have have better turning advantages over us since you have bigger wheel size in the front.... most of us run smaller size in the front.... it would be interesting to know the differences...

Next time I go out, I'll take my camera. The front tires make a BIG difference! A smoother ride too.
I would go to a 25x8x12. I have 10 inch wide tires and they rub the A-arms a bit.

Re: Snorkel Size Does Matter

Yes, same snorkel, but a different filter.
I had problems with fine dust getting through the K&N. I tried a Uni foam pre-filter, but still, after a day of riding, there would be a fine film of dust in the silicone hose,

So I took the advice of my Aussie friends and went to a Uni filter, #UP6245AST. This is a 4x6 filter, with a 15 degree bend molded in, on the flange. It is a 2 stage foam. There is a layer of corse foam, over fine foam. Its easy to clean and there are a lot of choices for filter oil. I use PJ1.

I use a K&N pre-filter sock too.

I've used this for a year and after a day of riding, the intake tube is clean. I have even applied a light film of oil, on the inside of the tubing and it wipes out clean after a ride.
