Dual Rear Brake Conversion on Riot

Here is the first step in Installing a new RPM gearbox in my Turbo Riot. The stock box failed this last Labor Day. In order to make the RPM conversion a cleaner setup I decided to install dual outboard brakes at the wheels. Used stock Polaris hubs and rotors with new Wilwood Calipers. RPM box will be here in about a week, more pictures to follow. BTW, Jtapp is doing the same thing to his Riot.

Very nice Scott! I'll be doing a RPM gearbox in my XL if (or when) the current tranny grenades so this is going to be very helpful.

I'd say that current gearbox that you have been testing must be damn good if you haven't broke it yet! You haven't been babying it I'm sure.

True! I've shock loaded that tranny hard under boost and it continues to hold together . Haven't seen any debris in my oil changes to date either....

The problem with the RPM gearbox is the axles on the Revolts aren't plunge type on the outboard cv joint. The Riot axles are plunge on both ends and will work with the RPM box it looks like. The Revolt axles will not work without limiting the shock travel a lot. To change to Riot type axles would add a grand onto the swap. Modifying the axles to 930 type on both ends would be about as expensive too. I'm going to put the outboard brakes on my Revolt this winter, its under $400 to do that.

Nice work. Are those hubs direct bolt on?

Hubs are Polaris rzr 800 direct bolt on. Same bearing and spline as the Revolt, XL, Riot.

Awesome! Does it hold the buggy better for like drag racing? Like holding it at the starting line with revs up?
