Tech tip belt guard mounts

If you are making a belt guard for your Redline and intend to mount it to your engine, be sure to make the mounts double the thickness of the stock mounts that were for the plastic belt guard. The stock guard was light weight and the steel mounts were thick enough, but when you use steel or even aluminum for a stronger guard the mounts are not thick enough and will break from the vibration. The best way to mount your belt guard is to mount it to the car instead of the engine. That way it will stand up to the punishment. Easy-E and Whynot came up with this idea and after many repairs to our engine mounted guards we are also changing ours to frame mounts. It makes sense and will save you a lot of work in the long run.

Were your guards full wrap around utilizing both mounts?

No, the top stock mount and a front forward mount on the front motor mount bolt. The guards have been both steel and aluminum and they look just like the RipponRick guards. They all have failed multiple times until the mounts were made double thickness. I just finished remaking mine to mount to the frame just behind the battery and just behind the engine oil cooler. The steel mounts are welded to the frame and the aluminum 4" wide guard is bolted to the mounts. No more engine vibration to deal with.

Update on the frame mount guards. They have worked great with no failures on all 3 cars that have switched over to the frame mounted guards.

Hey Dorothy, what year is your Revolt? Did you just get it or have you had it for a while. Did you weld the brackets to the frame or bolt them? I would like to see pics or your installation.
