Thumbs up Making of a Skid Plate

So last Fall, wile out riding, I had a large rock jump up and take a bite out of my skid plate. I though this was very rude of the rock. What did I do to it?

So, now I need a new Skid plate.

After seeing other posts, on RZRforums.net, of people making their own, I decided to try and make one out of UHMW polyethylene . Give it a try, it wasn't that hard to do.

I want to thank ditch pickle, on RZRforums.net, for his generosity and friendship, that made this possible.

Here's a link to a web page that has a general overview of UHMW polyethylene. Follow what it says it works.

Jeff,

That turned out really good! How thick is it again? I also like the idea of stainless hardware. Did it stink while you were warming it up in the oven?

Its 3/8" thick. No, it didn't smell much at all. It has a scent of candle wax.

I used blue lock tight on the bolts. That should keep them in.

Re: Making of a Skid Plate

Now that you have the form, figure out how much you would want for one and post it here. I would probably be willing to buy one from you if the price were right! Racing has completely destroyed mine and I really need a replacement. Would save me time if I could just buy one from you.

Let me know...........

Re: Making of a Skid Plate

Anyone know if the if the XL has the same rear frame section? I'm just wondering if my skid plate will fit them too?

I would expect that it would fit the XL as well. From what I have seen of the XLs, it is exactly the same as a Revolt just 7" longer in the seat/door area. Everything else is the same.

When I receive the one you are making for me, before I install it, I will swing by Damon's and match it up to an XL that he has and let you know!
