Turns out the gen 1 boxes are surfaced hardened gears only about 20 thou deep it is a good 57 Rockwell steel but the hardening prosesed used make the teeth week on the gen 1 boxes ...can't just harden the gears in gen .1 box either .they shrink when hardened
